Sellers Story:
We have lived in our home for a significant number of years. We moved here from London and bought the home knowing there was a lot of work to do and that it would be a long term project. We have loved living here with its central location, fields across the road, access to schools and into the town. Our children are now all grown up and spread across the country but we have created many wonderful memories living on Ashlawn Road and we have lovely neighbours which we will miss when we move.
Our house is quite quirky and over the years we have made many improvements to it. It originally had a double garage and we were able to convert one of them into a beautiful spacious dining room with a bay window to match the lounge. The addition of shutters to all the windows has given us privacy without detracting from the light in all the rooms. A couple of years ago we extended the patio out the back, purchased a beautiful summer house and erected a pergola. The summer house is fully insulated and has power and heating and is our sanctuary. The pergola has lights and power and is magical in the summer evenings. We love our drive with the enormous amount of parking and external lighting which frames the flowers when it is dusk. There are so many things we love about our house.
Our favourite room is probably the lounge because it is a large enough space to accommodate all the children when they come home with or without their partners and it is a great social area. It is a bright room which is sunny in the day, particularly in the mornings, and is warm and cosy at night. It encourages everyone to sit together and chat.
Christmas is a very special time and everyone congregates at our home because we have the space to do so. It is a busy, sometimes frenetic period but it is what families are all about. We go to the pantomime each year and always gather for Christmas dinner followed by party games. It is magical and we will treasure the times we have spent here together.
Lockdown was another experience. We hadn’t anticipated being locked down with some of our children (young people) and although it occasionally had challenges it was quality time spent together in our lovely home and garden. As you recall the weather was glorious and we were able to make the most of the garden and summer house in the evenings and at weekends.
What we have enjoyed the most is creating the home we have always wanted to have. It has been very rewarding seeing our projects come to fruition. Our home is our castle.
The reason we are selling is because we want to start a new chapter in our lives. We are approaching retirement age in a few years and would like a house in a more rural location. We have been incredibly torn about moving because we love our house so much but we feel it is now or never. We hope that whoever buys our home will love it as much as we have and will enjoy creating the wonderful memories and experiences we have shared as a family.
